Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular

2008_10_p1Anderson-McQueen held its first annual Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 25th from 1 – 4 PM at our Tyrone Chapel, 7820 – 38th Avenue North. The event was overwhelmingly well received by both families and pets. ”We had over 200 family members in attendance as well as nearly two dozen dogs”, stated John McQueen, Chief Operation Officer.

The event was free to the public and offered a day of fun in the autumn sun. ”We wanted to say Thank You to our community for the many years of trust and confidence they have placed in our family and staff,” continued McQueen. ”The weather was perfect and we had a great time as both children and pets paraded the area dressed in costume.”

The Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular provided children with a Rock Climbing Wall, Moonwalk, Obstacle Challenge, Golf Challenge, Pumpkin Decorating, and much, much more. Participants also enjoyed grilled hot dogs, soda, bottled water, fresh baked cookies and chips. For those who wanted a truly unique photo, Anderson-McQueen provided photos with their 1895 horse drawn hearse and their 2008 Harley Davidson hearse. Photos were $5 each and all proceeds from the sale of photographs will benefit the Humane Society of Pinellas County.

”It seemed little odd for a funeral home to host such an event,” stated Stephen Thompson, ”but the facilities didn’t feel like a funeral home and the staff was very friendly and we all had a great time.”

Anderson-McQueen looks foward to making this an annual tradition. In fact, several new ideas are already being explored to make the event even more fun for families.
